A progressive jazz-rock power trio led by English keyboardist/composer Roy Powell (Naked Truth, InterStatic), Mumpbeak draw inspiration from a wide array of artists, including Miles Davis, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Gentle Giant, and King Crimson. Powell, along with frequent collaborator bassist Lorenzo Feliciati (Naked Truth) and drummer Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson, Mr. Mister), issued the group's eponymous debut long-player in 2013 via RareNoise Records. For the band's sophomore effort, 2017's Tooth, Powell and Feliciati were joined by Norwegian drummer Torstein Lofthus (Shining, Elephant 9). ~ James Christopher Monger
